Restaurants and Pubs are making a FORTUNE using this Pokemon Go trick

If you haven’t heard about it by now, where have you been this past month?!. Making a leap from the 90s, Pokemon Go is fast becoming the worlds biggest mobile game and has become a gold mine for pubs and restaurants throughout the UK.

If you’re not familiar with how the game works, here’s a quick breakdown:
• Using a map of the real world, the player has to physically walk around the streets searching for Pokemon.
• If the player bumps into a. Pokemon, it’s shown on the screen and the player can catch it By throwing virtual Pokeballs at it.
• Certain places of interest, buildings and parks are Pokestops which can be visited and “spun” for extra Pokeballs and other items that will help the player during the game.
• The aim of the game is to “Catch em’ all”.

How are Restaurants and Pubs making a fortune from this new craze I hear you ask? Businesses are using an in game item called a Lure. The Lure attracts Pokemon to the area its used, which also affects other players around. Pubs and Restaurants are using the Lures to attract Pokemon around their premises, which attracts Pokemon Go players who they hope might spend some money inside.

One London restaurant, Maxwell’s Bar and Grill, has reported a 26% increase in revenue since they start using this trick and have even employed someone to deploy £100 of Lures per day around their premises in Covent Garden. For every £1 they use on Lures, they’re getting back £44 on average!

How can you do this? It’s very easy to do and doesn’t cost a lot of money. Firstly, you’ll need an Apple iPad, iPhone, touch screen iPod or an Android based smartphone with Pokemon Go downloaded from the App Store or Play Store. Then, you’ll need to register a Pokemon account or login with a Google Account. You now have Pokemon Go and can “catch em’ all” for yourself! But we’re not here to do that! We’re here to make you some extra dough.

To buy Lures, you need Pokecoins. Simply tap on the Pokeball at the bottom of the screen, go to Shop, and scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Here you will find the Pokecoins that you need to purchase the Lures. There are 6 different packs depending on how many Pokecoins you would like in one go. They range from 79p for 100 Pokecoins to £79.99 for 14,500 Pokecoins.

Once you’ve purchased your Pokecoins, you can buy Lures. Each Lure costs 100 Pokecoins or you can get 8 Lures for 680 Pokecoins. Each Lure lasts 30 minutes, so if you wanted to bring in new customers for 12 hours of the day, you’d need 24 Lures. That’s 2,040 Pokecoins. The 2,500 Pokecoins pack costs £14.99.

Once you’ve deployed the Lure, Pokemon Go players will see the extra Pokemon around your business and start flocking in numbers. As an extra way to attract them, why not put some Pokemon themed items on your menu. Pokemon Soup? Pokeshakes? Pokemon Cocktails? Some nightclubs in the US are even putting on Pokemon themed nights where they’re activating hundreds of Lures for party goers.

If you’re not very good with technology and would like a demonstration of what to do, why not pop into Crosbys and ask for our tech nerd Nat, who’d be more than happy to get you started.
